The Importance of Being Earnest : 07/17 - 07/27/25

Directed by Ana Martinez-Medina

(Thur, Fri, Sat at 7:30pm / Sun at 2:30pm)

Rehearsals to begin June 8th

This play is written by Oscar Wilde, a gay icon. As such, this production will be very gay. As a genderqueer director, I’m always interested in exploring gender performance, both on and off the stage. This play provides an excellent playground for this, as we have characters who create alternate identities to live second lives, unencumbered. There is also a running theme of the characters acting as they should, not as they would like to.

With this in mind, the plan is to have all the characters in drag! This means that roles traditionally cast with male actors will be cast with femme actors, and vice versa. At the same time, I’m open to casting actors in roles that more or less match their gender performance, as bio-queens do exist and are a very real part of the world of drag (Chappell Roan being the most mainstream example).

Mojada: A Medea in Los Angeles: Dec 25- Jan 26

Directed by Laura T Garza

Performances slated for late Dec 25- Jan 26

(Thur, Fri, Sat at 7:30pm / Sun at 2:30pm)

Rehearsals slated to begin Nov 16th, 2025

Medea and Jason have escaped the worst. After a harrowing journey across the Mexican–American border, the couple has made it safely to the States, where they can work toward a better life for their family. While Jason is convinced the future looks bright, Medea fears a darker fate as they face the challenges of living without documentation. Blending Euripides’ classic with Mexican folklore, Luis Alfaro examines the tragedy behind America’s immigration system and the destiny of one family caught in its grip.

Inspired by Euripides’ Medea, Mojada is a powerful and heart-wrenching reimagining of the Greek tragedy, set in modern-day America. Luis Alfaro masterfully blends ancient myth with contemporary struggles, telling the story of an immigrant family’s journey to the United States and the sacrifices they must make to survive.

Through this production, we continue our mission of reclaiming and reshaping classic stories to reflect the realities of our community. Mojada speaks to themes of displacement, resilience, and the cost of the American Dream—all through the lens of a Latina protagonist fighting for her family’s future.

This play is raw, emotional, and deeply relevant, and we are honored to bring it to the stage. iIt’s a production that will challenge, move, and inspire.
